Hamma Water Desalination

- October 2002: Algerian Energy Company «AEC» issues a national and international bidding for a BOO (Build, Own and Operate) sea water desalination plant at Hamma.

- October 2003: The US investor IONICS was awarded for the project.

- December 2003: Project company creation: HAMMA WATER DESALINATION Spa «HWD», with an Association Agreement between the investor IONICS (70%) and AEC (30%).

- January 2004: Starting of the project company activities.

- February 2005: GE acquires IONICS.The investor becomes GE IONICS HAMMA HOLDING (IRE) Ltd.

- June 2005: Ceremony for the signature of the project Agreements with all stakeholders.

- 06 December 2005: Financial close in New York was confirmed at the signature of the Finance Agreement, with the presence of SONATRACH - ADE - AEC - GE IONICS HAMMA HOLDING (IRE) Ltd - OPIC and Citibank representatives, where the Water Tariff was fixed.

- 21 December 2005: Startup of Construction.

- 24 February2008: Inauguration of the Hamma Desalination Plant by his Excellency Mister Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria.

- April 2008: Commissioning of the Desalination Units and starting delivery of drinking water.
